Company Overview

Founded by Chin Yi and Louis Welch in 1984 with a single location in Los Angeles, California, the privately-owned American chain of health clubs now has more than 800 locations across the United States and Canada; its headquarters are currently located in Irvine, California.  The chain has a signature model that most, if not all, of its clubs adopt with a few adjustments to appeal to their specific clienteles. The brand is not affiliated with clubs of the same name in Europe.

Equipment and Facilities Available

LA Fitness offers its clients a comprehensive array of cardio and strength training equipment and facilities suitable for beginners and seasoned athletes, such as:

  • Group classes including aerobic basics, a low-impact workout; Aqua Fit program, a 50-minute workout done in the swimming pool; belly dancing class for body sculpting and toning; Body Work Plus Abs, a light dumbbell workout; Boot Camp Conditioning, a circuit workout with drills and calisthenics; Calorie Crusher program, a workout with just 10 basic moves; and Cardio Jam, a fast-paced workout set to energetic music. Other cardio classes include Cycle Zone, Core Training, and Latin Heat, as well as a Senior Fit for older clients.
